Back in 2014 we had the pleasure of presenting the renowned Polish guitarist Raphael Roginski at FFFF, where he performed with the quartet Nefesh and in duo with Danish drummer P.o. Jørgens. This year, get ready for raw energy and wide open sonic landscapes when Roginski performs solo on the guitar. Roginski has a background in classical music and jazz but with his keen interest in ethnomusicology, he expands his musical language to draw influence from Jewish music as well as folk music from Turkey, Armenia, Lapland, and many other places. Also, his approach to the guitar carries heavy traces of African music, American primitivism, and old blues. In short, a fascinating journey through the world of the guitar. His guitar interpretations from composers such as J.S. Bach, Henry Purcell, Langston Hughes, and John Coltrane have received international praise, and we are excited to have Roginski back at Fanø.
