Fanø Free Folk Festival takes place in the heart of Sønderho – one of the most beautiful villages in Denmark situated on the isle of Fanø. Fanø is located in the southwest of Denmark in the Danish part of the Wadden Sea – a region that figures on Unesco’s World Heritage List.
Arriving from Esbjerg:
Fanø is a 15 min. ferry ride with FanøFærgen from Esbjerg, the biggest town in the southwest of Denmark. Esbjerg is easy to reach by bus or train from most bigger Danish towns. There is a shuttle bus from the international airport in Billund to Esbjerg Station.
From Esbjerg Rutebilstation (the intercity bus station located right next to the train station’s entrance) you can take intercity bus 5 directly to the ferry. The trip by foot/bike is approx. 2km. The ferry departs regularly and it’s only a 15 min. ferry ride.
The price for the ferry ride is 45 DKK for an adult on foot (return ticket).
Upon arrival to Fanø (Nordby) you can take bus 431 to Sønderho. The bus departs right by the ferry landing.
Prices for travelling with a car varies based on your type of car and the holiday season – see FanøFærgens website for precise ticket types and prices.
