While months and seasons change and rush by, the memories of Fanø Free Folk Festival #7 along with other past editions keep the festival team fervent, grateful, and eager to stay in touch with our audience as well as the Fanø locals. In order to continue exploring and engaging in that very special Fanø Free Folk sense of community, we will be presenting and co-presenting a handful of exceptionally great shows with former FFFF-artists in new surroundings throughout the approaching seasons. We are especially happy to be able to reveal one event in Nordby in December and to be present at Fanø during the winter. So again, a heartfelt thank you for coming to our festival, we really hope to see you for another and maybe even meet again this year.
Here is a an overview of Fanø Free Folk Festival activities in Denmark from autumn through winter 2016:
29. September @ 5e
Léonore Boulanger (FR) w. SORT KAFFE & VINYL
Léonore Boulanger absolutely enchanted the Fanø Free Folk Festival audience in 2013, wrapping everyone in her charming and hypnotic acid folk/French chanson universe where all kinds of instruments meet with further inspiration from Persian singing techniques, German expressionist poetry, shamanistic rituals, African folk music and more. Now she is back with her band and the new album “Feigen Feigen” out on German label Ana Ott in the intimate settings of 5e.
8. October @ Kulturstationen Vanløse
Folkefesten 2016: Klezmofobia Trolska Polska, Vandreår m.fl.
In cooperation with Folk Danmark and Kulturstationen Vanløse, we present a regular folk party with dance-enticing acts such as Klezmofobia and Trolska Polska. You can also be swept away by beautiful traditional-inspired but with personal touches folk from Vandreår and a special project from this year’s Fanø Free Folk Festival: Peter Uhrbrand’s and Jørgen Bjørslev‘s interpretation of the genius of Bert Jansch. All this and much, much more – there will be activities all day and you can check out the full programme and ticket information at Kulturstationen.
12. October @ Christianshavns Beboerhus
Laura Cannell also visited us in 2015 and really took to the serene atmosphere of the island, which suits her music – that she performed solo in Sønderho Church – so perfectly. The violinist, who made a lot of awed ripples in the music world with her albums “Quick Sparrows Over The Black Earth” (2014) and “Beneath Swooping Tallons” (2015), will perform at Jazzhouse in Copenhagen this winter with electro-acoustic artist André Bosman. Bosman has worked with prominent people such as Phil Niblick and Tony Conrad and has musical references drawn from the music of the middle age and free impro in common with Cannell.
