Kjorstad Brothers (NO)

Kjorstad Brothers

Using the musical and cultural tradition from their home, South Fron in Guldbrandsdalen in Norway, musical duo and brothers Hans and Rasmus Kjorstad mix folk tunes and dance rhythms with modern bass riffs, sonic grounds and melody lines. When creating their music, they take pride in the unpolished and groovy, lending a new outlet to traditional folk music and thereby opening the scene up to a new and broader audience. The brothers released their debut album Pusinshi Ulla in 2016 and since then they have been playing at many folk clubs and music festivals, sometimes together with Torgeir Vassvik, who will also be performing at this years Fanø Free Folk Festival. In fact, Hans Kjorstad recently visited Sønderho, when he performed as part of the group Völvur with Scottish folk hero Alasdair Roberts for Vinterjazz 2019. And there’s no doubting that Kjorstad Brothers will be a great match to Sønderho as well.
